Respite Reflections’ purpose is to help people push the “pause” button in their transition work — to take a break from the thinking, researching, networking and preparing for interviews. Taking a moment to center yourself, ponder a positive thought, and focus on a broader perspective is invaluable during a time of transition.
“All journeys have secret destinations
of which the traveler is unaware.”
– Martin Buber
Wherever we have been on our journey through life, surely there have been those times when we discovered that the place we ended up was not on the agenda of where we thought we were going. And yet, it is often those “wrong turns” that lead us to places we most need to go even if we never would have chosen to go there purposefully.
At this moment in time, if we think we are at the opposite end of where we wanted to be, or thought we should be, can we entertain the possibility that there is some secret waiting to be found in our present location? If we relax for just a moment, believing that we are in the most perfect place possible, perhaps the secret destination will reveal itself and we will discover the most wonderful secret about this perfect time and place we find ourselves in.
