Respite Reflections’ purpose is to help people push the “pause” button in their transition work — to take a break from the thinking, researching, networking and preparing for interviews.
Taking a moment to center yourself, ponder a positive thought, and focus on a broader perspective is invaluable during a time of transition.

Respite: A short interval of rest or relief

Quietly enjoy a silent moment.

“If you don’t know where you are going,
you will probably end up somewhere else.”

– Laurence Johnson Peter

One wintry day, I glanced down the street and could barely see the end of the block. Although the snow was quite light, the wind was brutal, blowing a blizzard of snow off rooftops and obscuring the street.

How like a blizzard our lives can become as we get distracted with tasks and responsibilities, which often obscure the truly valuable – relaxing with a loved one, sitting quietly with ourselves, enjoying a silent moment, watching the sliver of a new moon in a crisp, clear sky. If we do not take time to enjoy where we are now, we may not enjoy the place we end up either.
